Why the name is wrong, and why it stuck

Latent Semantic Indexing was developed to handle synonymy in small, static document collections by factorising a term-document matrix. It was a real advance for its time and it does not scale to a web-sized, constantly-changing corpus. Google's systems for understanding meaning - the neural and language-model work of the last decade - are a different lineage entirely.

The term survived because the underlying advice was sound even though the label was wrong. 'Include related terms rather than repeating the same phrase' is genuinely good guidance. It was simply given a technical-sounding name that does not describe anything Google runs, and a generation of tools sold it as a mechanism. We would rather use the honest framing: what you are building is topical and entity coverage.

What actually helps: covering the topic, not the string

Search systems judge whether a page addresses a subject, and the strongest evidence for that is the presence of the concepts a genuine treatment of the subject would include. A real article about email deliverability mentions SPF, DKIM, DMARC, sender reputation, and spam complaints - not because those are magic tokens, but because you cannot write competently about the subject without them.

So the useful test on any related-terms list is not 'have I included enough of these' but 'does this list contain something I forgot to cover'. A term you cannot write a paragraph about does not belong in the article at all.

How to use the three lists

The tool returns three groups from your seed. Read them as an outline, not a checklist.

Where should related terms go in the page?

Where they fall naturally as you explain the topic. Question phrasings work well as H2 or H3 headings with a direct answer underneath. Genuine subtopics deserve their own section. Terms forced into the intro, alt text, and every heading produce the same over-optimised pattern as keyword stuffing, with extra vocabulary.

Is this just synonym stuffing?

It should not be. Synonym stuffing is repeating variations of one phrase to hit an imagined frequency. Topical coverage is explaining the distinct concepts a subject involves - which usually means more sections, not more adjectives. If adding a term does not add information for the reader, leave it out.
